Bala 1899

This detailed map covers Bala in 1899 with the village of Llanfor creeping in at the top right hand side of the map, and the Bala & Ffestiniog Railway running diagonally across the map between the two. The River Dee twists and turns alongside the railway line, the whole of the area around it being liable to floods. Other features include Christ Church, County School, Bala Union Workhouse, Victoria Hall and Bala Junction Station. On the back of the map, we have a historical introduction by Derrick Pratt and a directory.


Barmouth 1900

This detailed map covers the coastal town of Barmouth in 1900. Points of interest on the map include St Margarets School, St Tudwals RC Church, Orielton Hall and St Johns Church. Other features include Orielton Wood, Barmouth Bridge, Aber-Amffra Harbour and the Cambrian Railway which travels along the coastline. On the reverse of the map we have an area to the north of Barmouth which includes Parsel and a historical introduction by Alan Leather.

Blaenau Ffestiniog 1914

This map of Blaenau Ffestiniog, geographically shows two distinctive parts. To the west a desolate mountain mass, and to the right, the town itself. Festiniog Railway, which was built in 1836, runs vertically through the centre of the map swinging eastward to go through Blaenau. Close to the railway line through the town is St Davids Church and the Town Hall. Oakeley Square appears to the left of the town as does Moelwyn Mills (Woolen) which went under during the inter war depression. The map shows Rhywbryfdir which houses the local hospital and Trefeini which appears to the far right of the map. On the reverse of the map is an excerpt from sheet 04.13, directly south of 04.09 which indicates where the railway line started in Tan-Y-Grisiaw. The map also features a historical introduction by Derrick Pratt.


Corwen 1899

This map shows Corwen in 1899, with the railway line being a prominent feature through the map, the line being closed in 1962. Corwen boasted six hotels which can be seen on the map, four of which are still running today. Three quarriess are visible to the south of the town, one of which is straight underneath the Corwen Union Workhouse which served six parishes in Merionethshire and seven in Denbighshire. The river Dee runs around the town travelling from one end of the map to the other above the railway line. The map also features an historical introduction by Derrick Pratt.


Dolgellau 1900

This map shows Dolgellau in 1900 with the town itself covering the top right of the map, most of the surrounding areas being covered heavily by dense forest areas. Areas of interest include the several Woollen Factories, Dolgelly Union Workhouse, Cambrian Brewery and Eldon Square in the centre of the town. Also featured is Upper Mill (corn) and a Congregational chapel to the very south of the map. On the reverse there is an area to the north which shows the Cambian Railway and County Hall. The map also includes an historical introduction by Derrick Pratt.


Tywyn 1900

The village of Tywyn - or Towyn - appears at the bottom of this map, with the area above being mainly fields, with a cemetary to the north east of the village. Points of interest include St Cadvans Church, Gas Works, two schools and the Baptist Chapel. Other features include Kings Station and just off College Green there is the Market Hall. On the reverse of the map there is a map to the north of Tywyn which shows the Promenade and Esguan Hall. A good stretch of the Tal-y-llyn Railway is shown, including Pen-dre station. The map also includes an historical introduction by Derrick Pratt
