Sources and Source Citations
The Source Pane

Figure 1 - The Source Pane
The Source Pane is an optional pane of the Property Dialog that you can hide or show with a click on the toolbar. It shows the sources for whichever field you click on in the left-hand side. In the example shown, the user has just clicked on "Lawyer" (i.e. the Occupation field) and the Source Pane shows that there are 2 sources for this item of data.
In Family Historian you have great flexibility in how you manage your sources. You might, for example, create a Source Record for each separate source - a census record, or marriage certificate, say. The 'raw data' of the original source can be stored as part of the Source record. You can store pictures of sources if you wish (typically scanned images of certificates), and these can appear in reports too.
The details in the bottom half of the yellow pane in Figure 1 show some of the fields you can specify for a source citation - e.g. in this case, the selected source (Amanda Munro's birth certificate) is deemed to be 'primary evidence' that Michael Munro was a lawyer.
Using the Automatic Source Citations dialog (not shown), you can specify a source citation which will automatically be applied to all new data until you cancel it. One of the panes in the status bar at the bottom right corner of the window will show "Auto-Citation Enabled" as long as the automatic source citation is enabled - see Figure 2 below. You can also copy and paste source citations using the toolbar buttons in the Source Pane - see Figure 1 above.
