Text from back cover:- This booklet has been prepared to try and help family historians first find and then make the most of the information provided by birth and death certificates. It only relates to certificates issued by the registration service in England and Wales. (Scotland, Northern Ireland, Southern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands all have their own registration services which may differ significantly from the details discussed in this booklet.) In 1969 the format of the registers, and therefore the certificates issued from them changed considerably. This booklet is only relevant to the certificates issued from 1837 to 1969
