The original book was written by Alderman John Wilson, J.P., M.P. and published by J H Veitch & Sons of Durham in 1907. It charts the evolution and early history of the Association and it leaders. The contents comprise: Contents & Preface; Preparation; Laying the Foundation; Rearing the Building; The Leaders; Opposition to the Building; History by year from 1872-1904; Closing Summary; Appendices; Index and 15 photographic illustrations.
Some of the scanned pages appear not to be straight and some exhibit signs of "warping". This is a feature of the original book rather than the scanning process.
